Ariat Grasmere Review

I have owned my Grasmere's since Christmas Eve and they have been very well used ever since!

I absolutely love them. I wear them everywhere; i ride in them, i walk through rivers in them, i muck out in them and i also wear them shopping. Lets just say they are my absolute must have.

I have owned several 'proper' riding boots since these were bought and nothing compares. I look forward to putting these on whereas i loathed wearing the 'proper' riding boots.

Unlike most boots these don't require a painful break in which was a plus for me having owned a pair of Mountain Horse Sportive's which still haven't been broken in after a year of ownership (have sold them). Mine have also dropped considerably but not so much that they look silly. The suede on them has lost it's water beading waterproofness, they are still waterproof but they just go darker as they soak up the water rather than repelling it.

They are extremely comfortable and very warm but i can still wear them in the hotter days of an English summer!

They are a very reasonable price too, if you shop around you can get them for around £180 which is what I paid for them.

In conclusion they are a very good investment if you want an all round boot which serves as a brilliant winter boot!

  1. Great boots! Are they waterproof all the way to the tops? Ever gotten your feet wet in them?

  2. Hi, thank you for reading my review!

No they are not waterproof all the way to the tops, there is a line on the leather (you can see it on the inside of my right boot in the picture) where I assume the goretex is sewn up to.
My feet have never been wet in them- ever!

    Thanks again,
    Molly

  3. Do you have a photo of how they look when they're really wet/muddy?

Sorry for all the questions - thinking of buying a pair and wondering how they'll hold up to the muck. Is it easy to clean the mud out of all the laces on the sides?

    Thanks!

  4. Afraid not! I always hose them off when I've been in deep mud as the shavings stick to them, making it even more horrible!

As far as how they stand up to mud; very well indeed! I go to an equine college and when they turnout it's usually half a foot deep of mud, whereas everyone else won't go through it, I will because I know my feet will stay nice and dry!

I'll assume you are a gentleman (going off your name Aaron) and Ariat do a men's version called the Rydal, I think they're slightly shorter but I can't speak for them as mine are the ladies version. However, I'll assume they are very similar and equally good quality :)

    Hope this has helped :)

  5. Oh and as for cleaning, I've never had a problem cleaning the muck out around the laces. If it dries it normally drops out anyway but I normally do a monthly clean (in my bath), then use a baby wipe, then I use Renapur. I really suggest buying some Renapur as it has kept my boots looking lovely since I bought them :)

  6. Thanks for the advice. Bought my girlfriend a pair of Grasmeres for Christmas and she loves them.

Hope yours are coping with the wet muddy spring!

  7. Ah so glad I could help! Fantastic that she loves them!

Mine are coping just fine with the weather, coated them in neatsfoot oil which has made them lovely and supple, but darker in colour and still lovely!

If you nee any more advice let me know :)
